Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certification, 8th Edition: Fast Track or Challenger option

TNCC is a widely recognized premier course for hospitals and trauma centers worldwide. It empowers nurses with the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and hands-on training to provide expert care for trauma patients.

This course is designed to establish a standardized body of trauma knowledge and to improve the care of all trauma patients. This seventh edition course combines interactive learning along with scenario-based assessments to provide nurses a comprehensive learning experience.

TNCC Pre-course Online Modules Requirement

  • All students are required to complete the TNCC Provider Pre-Course Online Modules before attending class. TNCC is an intensive two day course intended for experienced Emergency Nurses. Without completing the pre-course online modules before attending class, students will not be allowed into the class. Reschedule fees will apply
  • Instructions on accessing the modules will be in the Confirmation Email after registration/purchase is complete

Choose the Course Format that works for you:

TNCC Student Types:

Full Course (RN) – One and a half days of instructor-led classroom time with skills testing, an online exam, and required pre-course work. This option is for registered nurses (or equivalent as defined by their country of practice). RNs are verified as an ENPC or TNCC provider after successful completion of the course. This course choice is an ideal option for RNs taking the course for the first time. Contact hours are awarded if the RN is unsuccessful but otherwise meets the contact hour requirements. For ENPC, RNs will receive 4.75 contact hours for the completing the pre-course work and an evaluation and 13.5 contact hours after completing the classroom time and evaluation. For TNCC, RNs will receive 3.25 contact hours for completing the pre-course work and an evaluation and 15 contact hours after completing the classroom time and evaluation. The total number of contact hours awarded for each course is 18.25. Course fee is $350.

Fast Track (RN, TNCC only) – One day of instructor-led classroom time with skills testing, an online exam, and required pre-course work. This TNCC only option is for registered nurses (or the equivalent as defined by the student’s country of practice). RNs are verified as a TNCC provider after successful completion of the course. Although not required, prior experience with the Trauma Nursing Process is ideal. Contact hours are awarded if the RN is unsuccessful but otherwise meets the contact hour requirements. RNs will receive 3.25 contact hours for completing the pre-course work and an evaluation and 7.5 contact hours after completing the classroom time and evaluation. The total number of contact hours awarded is 10.75. Course fee is $285 & you will be required to attend on the 2nd day of the 2 days scheduled. 

Challenger (RN) – No classroom time. This option includes skills testing and an online exam only and does not require pre-course work. It is for registered nurses (or the equivalent as defined by their country of practice) with ENPC or TNCC experience and who are comfortable with self-study. RNs are verified as an ENPC or TNCC provider after successful completion of the course. RNs will receive 3 contact hours for completing the skills testing, online exam, and evaluation. Course fee is $225 & you will be required to attend on the 2nd day of the scheduled 2 day program. 

Non-RN – One and a half days of instructor-led classroom time, skills testing, and required pre-course work. This option is for healthcare professionals interested in trauma patient care who are not registered nurses. No provider verification is granted. Contact hours are awarded if the non-RN meets the contact hour requirements. For ENPC, non-RNs will receive 4.75 contact hours for the completing the pre-course work and an evaluation and 11.5 contact hours after completing the classroom time and evaluation. For TNCC, RNs will receive 3.25 contact hours for completing the pre-course work and an evaluation and 13 contact hours after completing the classroom time and evaluation. The total number of contact hours awarded for each course is 16.25 for non-RNs. Course fee is $350.

  • A Systematic Approach of Initial Assessment
    • Nurses learn A-I mnemonic and the Trauma Nursing Assessment. The first few minutes of trauma care are critical to achieve better patient outcomes. The A – I mnemonic and the Trauma Nursing Assessment will assist nurses in providing appropriate and early intervention.
  • Evidence-based Content Written by Trauma Experts
    • with dedicated chapters for special populations. The TNCC Seventh Edition contains evidence-based content developed by trauma experts to reinforce and supplement the lectures and skill stations. It is a compilation of current trauma nursing standards and is a valuable resource for future reference.
  • Hands-on Skill Stations
    • Three Psychomotor skill stations offer nurses the opportunity to practice the systematic approach of the initial assessment in real life situations. The skill stations covered are Trauma Nursing Process, Airway and Ventilation, and Trauma Interventions.
  • 5 Online Modules
    • Complete case studies taking nurses through an entire sequence of care

Verification and Contact Hours

  • Upon successful completion of the course ENA will issue a 4 year provider verification card
  • Contact hours are awarded for course completion
  • 80% needed to pass during multiple-choice exam of 50 questions
  • 70% needed to pass during skill station evaluation

Textbook Requirement

You must have the Trauma Nursing Core Course Provider Manual (eighth Edition) by Emergency Nurses Association – to complete the pre-course online modules and bring to class. The manual is included in your course fee. 

Remediation

  • If a student fails the multiple choice the first time, they may retest once with an alternative exam version
  • If a student fails the skills station the first time, they may retest once with an alternative scenario
  • if a student does not pass either retests or fails both the written and skills testing, they must register to take another course or challenge a subsequent course in order to pursue verification status.  A re-registration testing fee of $100 applies

Terms and Conditions

We do not issue refunds for course fees. All registrations are final.  Course credit can be applied to future courses.  

Rescheduling Policy

  • You may call to reschedule 14 business days prior to the course start date free of charge
  • If you call less than 7 business days prior to the course start date, 50% of your course fee will be charged to you to complete your rescheduling
  • Our administrative office is closed on weekends and holidays
  • Rescheduling/cancellation exceptions will be evaluated on a case by case basis

Cancellation Policy

  • We do not issue refunds for course fees. All registrations are final.
  • If you cancel or do not attend the class you have registered for, you will forfeit your entire course fee.

Textbook Policy

  • The course textbook is required for all classes and must be brought with you on the day of your course. All students must have the current appropriate course textbook for their individual use before, during, and after the course. Students should review the textbook before class and have immediate access to their own copy afterward as a reference and review tool.
  • Students may not share a textbook during the course.

Late Arrival

  • If you arrive more than 15 minutes after the course start time, you may be not be admitted into class and must reschedule (rescheduling fee applies).
